Our Program

Our program consists of an initial consultation to determine which medications may be beneficial, and monthly follow-up checks to monitor progress.
At the initial consultation, your medical history will be reviewed along with a check of your blood pressure and heart rate. Your current weight will be taken and BMI will be calculated to determine the appropriate treatment option. Also discussed at this time are the side effects of the medication and what you should expect when taking it.
Monthly checks consist of checking vital signs, assessing progress, and discussing any questions you may have. At this time, a prescription for the next month will be issued, providing you have achieved at least a 4 lb. loss. If you are serious about losing weight, then that should not be a problem.
After 3 months, if you are taking Phentermine, you will be required to go off of the medication for a minimum of 2 weeks to get it out of your system and to let your body re-set. After 2 weeks, if you have not reached your goal, another cycle can be started and continued until you reach a normal BMI. Once you reach a normal BMI, the phentermine dosage will be discontinued.

Phentermine

Phentermine Hydrochloride (HCL) is prescribed for weight loss. It is in the family of appetite suppressants used for the short-term management of exogenous obesity.
When used in conjunction with diet, exercise, and behavior therapy, Phentermine can help some obese adults (BMI>30), or overweight adults (BMI>27) lose weight while learning new ways to eat and exercise.
Phentermine works by stimulating the hypothalamus gland and affecting certain neurotransmitters to decrease appetite. The hypothalamus is the region of the brain that controls the autonomic nervous system, regulating sleep cycles, body temperature, appetite, etc.
Phentermine should NOT be used as a substitute for proper diet or exercise. For maximum effects, it must be used in conjunction with a reduced-calorie diet and/or exercise.
Any modifications in your diet, activity level, and behavior must be developed and continued long-term in order to continue losing weight and prevent the lost weight from returning.

Saxenda/Wegovy

Contrave

Contrave is an FDA-Approved prescription weight-loss medication which contains two medicines (naltrexone and bupropion).
Contrave, when used with diet and exercise, can help some obese adults (BMI>30), or overweight adults (BMI>27) who also have some weight-related medical problems lose weight and keep it off.
It is thought that Contrave has effects on two separate areas of the brain involved in the regulation of food intake: the hypothalamus (appetite regulatory center) and the mesolimbic dopamine circuit (reward system). The exact neurochemical effects of Contrave leading to weight loss is not fully understood, but it is believed to work by regulation of appetite and reduction of food intake.
Weight loss can result in lower blood sugar, so Diabetics should monitor their blood sugar while on Contrave..
